Wilma,
You did not mention who your ancestor was so it is difficult
for me to look at the details. Bennett's Bayou starts up in Missouri
near the small town of Egypt Grove in Howell County and comes south
through Bakersfield, Missouri, to what today is Lake Norfork, It
crosses the Fulton county north west corner just by a few feet and
continues in Baxter County, entering Norfork Lake just east of
Gamaliel. The area today that is called Bennett's Bayou if between
the Lake and the Missouri line in todays Baxter County. I have not
tried to follow these early political boundaries.
I am sure you do not have Bennett's Creek confused with the
Bayou because you are dealing with political subdivisions. Just for
your information Bennett's Creek starts up at almost the same
location in Howell county Missouri, near a small town named Amy.
Bennett's River comes south through Moody Missouri then crosses into
Fulton County Arkansas near County Road 12 and goes south west , just
south of the small town of Vidette. It then enters Lake Norfork in
Baxter County just across from Gamaliel, close to the same point that
Bennett's Bayou comes into the lake. I have had opportunity to spend
quite a bit of time in this very rural farm area since my
Ott/Marriott lines were there.
