Vera I'm certain you've thought of this - but just in case. Who opened the
gravesite? Someone had to order it done and be responsible for the charge?

I know many of those country cemeteries aren't near houses, but just
possibly someone living close by saw "so and so's" backhoe up there. And
since this is not a funeral home stake at the grave, is this possibly a
family transport? Bringing the body themselves from out of the area?

I personally would check with a funeral home to see what permits are
required to do so. State laws vary so on this. But possibly they could tell
you where to start checking on that end.

Probably not much help, but thought I'd toss it out.
