I am looking for information on my GGG Grandparents, John B. Nickell and his
wife Elizabeth Betsy Baker.
My GG Grandmother was Elizabeth Nickell, born Dec. 30, 1841 in Morgan Co.,
Ky. and she married Greenville T. Little also from Morgan Co. Ky. and I was
told that her parents were John B. Nickell and Elizabeth Betsy Baker. I am
looking for the parents of Elizabeth Betsy Baker. I have looked on rootsweb
and they have this family a John Jackson Baker married to a Mary Campbell
and they have a daughter listed as Elizabeth Betsy Baker but they have that
girl married to a John Shepherd and then a James Jim Hendrix.
The information that I have is that John B. Nickell and his wife
Elizabeth Betsy Baker Nickell moved from Kentucky and came to Arkansas and
several of their children settled in Arkansas also. John B. Nickell born
1816-1819 in Morgan Co. KY. and died 1891 in Washington Co., Arkansas.
Elizabeth Betsy Baker Nickell born Sept. 1818 in Perry co. Ark.and died on
July 1899 or 1900 in Washington Co. Arkansas and is buried at the Nickell
Cemetery in Washington Co. Arkansas. I have her parents as John Jackson
Baker and Mary Elizabeth Campbell. Is that correct? or does anyone know who
her parents were?
I am hoping that, perhaps, someone there in Arkansas is also doing research
on this family since so many wound up in Arkansas and I would think would
have descendants living there. The following are the children of John B.
Nickell and Elizabeth Betsy Baker Nickell:
1. Priscilla Nickell, born 1840 in Morgan co. Ky.
2. Elizabeth Nickell born Dec. 30, 1841 in Morgan Co.,Ky. and married
Greenville T. Little and they came to Dallas Co., Texas and settled there.
Elizabeth died on Jan. 3, 1929 in Dallas, Texas. She and Greenville had
spent their life in a town south of Dallas called Wilmer. These are my GG
Grandparents.
3. Robert Nickell, born Morgan Co. Ky. in 1844 and died in 1852.
4. Mary Pertinia Nickell born 1845 in Morgan Co. Ky. and married John Lyons
and died in 1886 in Arkansas.
5. Andrew Thomas Nickell 'Spaniard", born June 3, 1850 in Morgan Co., Ky.
and married China Perlina Wallen and he died on Nov. 3, 1916 in Washington
Co.,Arkansas.
6. Henry E. Nickell, born 1852 in Morgan Co. Ky. and married 1. Orlena Jane
Wilson; 2. Halley Banks; 3. Adeline Addie Wells and he died on March 5, 1926
in Wolfe Co. Ky.
7. Nancy Jane Nickell born Jan. 31, 1854 in Morgan Co. Ky. and married Abner
Terry Shackelford in 1874 and died on Feb. 16, 1935 in Hazel Valley,
Arkansas.
8. Francis "Fanny" Nickell, born June 1855 in Morgan co. Ky. and married
Stanley Gossit Shackelford. She died in 1877.
9. Perlina "Line" Nickell born Nov. 1847 in Morgan Co. Ky. and married
William Stanford "Bud" Shackelford. She died in 1948.
10. Joseph D. Nickell, born June 1859 or 1860 in Morgan Co.Ky. and married
Mary Jane Leslie in 1888 and he died in 1917 in Arkansas.
