TWO RARE OLD BILLS
A $5 bill of the first issue of American currency was being shown by James Shannon on the streets today. The bill is printed on very thick but pliable paper, 3x3 ½ inches, and is well preserved, every letter and figure being plainly visible. The bill was authorized and issued in 1776 and is therefore 128 years old. It was given to Mr. Shannon by an uncle a number of years ago.
E V Visart recently came into possession of an old fashioned $5 greenback bill of the year 1866. No one would accept either of these old bills if offered them in payment of an account, owing to their unfamiliar appearance.
