Arkansas deaths through 1940 have been compiled, Indexed, and published in
three books. You indicated that you found him living during the 1930 census.
So, I checked the two publications that contained deaths from 1930 to 1940.
I found no Raymond Hobbs in the second (1924 - 1933) and only found the
following info in the third:

reference: "Arkansas Death Record Index, 1934 - 1940, " compiled and
published by Desmond Walls Allen:

page-193
Hobbs, Ray Benton (county) 10/09/1934

Note: Benton County is the most NW county in Arkansas.

If this Ray Hobbs is not your subject, at least you now know that he did not
die in Arkansas between 1930 to 1940.
