Hello;

I, too, have information stating the Arnold Family was from England. My
line starts with the grandson of William Arnold (1587), son of Benedict and
Damaris Westcott, Josiah Arnold and his wife Sarah Mills. Their daughter,
Penelope Arnold married Robert Robinson. This line eventually connects to
the Hatmaker family. Here's some of my "information" concerning William
Arnold:

WILLIAM ARNOLD (NICHOLAS THOMAS, RICHARD, RICHARD, THOMAS, ROGER) was born
June 24, 1587 in Ilchester, Somerset, and died September 07, 1685 in
Pawtuxet, RI. He married CHRISTANA PECK OR PEAKE Bef. 1610.

William Arnold

· Died: 7 Sep 1685 in Pawtuxet, Rhode Island
· Notes:
William set sail with his family May 1, 1635, from Dartmouth, England, and
arrived June 24, 1635, in New England. He is mentioned in Lincoln's "History
of Hingham, Massachusetts," as Wlliam Arnall and as coming thither in 1635.
He removed with his family April 20, 1636, to Providence, Rhode Island where
he received grants of land from Roger Williams and his initials W. A. are
second in the famous Initial deed of Roger Williams and became one of the
original proprietors of Providence Plantations in 1636, the lands being
purchased from the Indian Sachems, Conanicus and Miantonomi of Mooshansic,
afterward called Providence. He was President of the four towns, Portsmouth,
Newport, Providence and Warwick for five years and Governor of the Colony
for ten years.
