Beth,

Look at the 1910 census and see that Henry's mthr in law was living there,
Catherine Adams. Also Mary was enumerated as Emma. So, probably she was
Mary Emma Adams.

On the 1920 census, Catherine is still living with Henry and his wife, who
is now M. Emmaline. Catherine/Katherine states her parents both b Germany.

Catherine is not on the 1930 census. There is a Catherine E Adams died
Perry Co 3/26/1925.
I didn't find her in the cem index bk, though.

1870
State: Illinois
County: JACKSON

Mary A Thedford 30(she didn't get much older bet 1860-70) IL
John R 21 IL
William 15 IL
James 11 IL
Henry 4 IL

Here is 1860. Still no father Thedford for Mary's kids. Anderson is the HH
right before Mary with James on the next pg. Mary must have been pregnant
with Henry when this census was done. And, her husb must have just died.

Henry 23 TN
Mariah 30 IL
Wm 1 IL

Don't know if this is the one. Maybe this was his first wife, maybe she and
Wm died and he married Mary. Maybe this is Mary. What does make sense is
that Mary would name her new baby after her recently deceased husb. I
believe this Henry, along with the Anderson, James and John are the sons of
the old William in the 1870 census. Anderson and John are on the 1850
census with him and most are all b TN. I never saw a Walter. But, he may be
cousin to this line. He was not on the 1850 with William and his wife,
Lucretia. And, I looked at the ones in Jackson Co, there was no Walter.

Before I forget, Tilman Lipe was in Williamson Co IL 1850. I have seen his
name close to the Thedfords in Perry Co. in 1870, I think.

> Thanks! I knew I could depend on you! Henry Thedford is the only male I
didn't consider as he was abt. 13 in the 1880, living with his widowed
mother, Mary A., brothers, James and William with his wife Elizabeth Cook
Thedford. It was really deceiving because the enumerator or transcriber had
the name spelled Thenford. Now I need for find Henry Thedford's father. He
had died prior to the 1880. And maybe I can figure out who the Mary E. was
who married Henry Thedford

understand in the PC cemeteries the name is spelled Thedford and Thetford.
I think they must be from the same line because Walter J. Thetford, b. 1839
IL, m. Rebecca Smyers and their dau., Malinda Elizabeth was b. 1858 in
Alpin, Perry Co. It looks as if some of the Smyers and Thetford families
migrated from Perry Co. to Holdenville, Hughes Co., OK with my ggrandparents
William N. and Elizabeth Leota Lawson Womack.
