Hester Ida McCauley DeVine
Hester Ida McCauley DeVine, age 86, of Sheridan, formerly of cove, passed
away Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Jefferson Regional Memorial Hospital in
Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Hester was a longtime resident of Cove and Hatfield
living there all but the last few years of her life.
She was born August 17, 1913, in shady, Arkansas. Hester was the daughter
of the late Jesse A. McCauley and the late Emma Arnold McCauley. She was
united in marriage to Harry DeVine and lovingly cared for him until his
death in 1977. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends as
a woman who always had time for others. She especially loved her family and
spent many long hours making quilts, canning and telling stories of the past
to her children and grandchildren. Her living spirit will be treasured by
her family until they meet her again in Heaven. She is remembered and
learned [mourned?] by all those who loved her so much.
Survivors include: Sons: Kenneth McCauley of Wickes, AR; Henry McCauley of
Wickes, AR,; Daughters: Mary Lou Smith of Sheridan, AR; Jessie Kesterson of
Cove, AR; Brother Howard McCauley of hawthorn, OK. Sisters: Dorothy Loyd of
Cove, AR; Marie Hastingd [s?] of Grand Saline, TX, 13 grandchildren, and 23
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry DeVine, brothers
Mack McCauley, Bill McCauley, Allen McCauley, and Clyde McCauley, and his
[her?] sister Helen Fergerson.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 23, 1999, at 2:00 P.M. at the
Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene with Brother Gaylon White officiating.
Music was provided by Brother Burke of Wickes, AR. Burial followed in the
Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral
Home in Mena.
Pallbearers were her grandsons: Keith Kesterson, Andy McCauley, Kenny
McCauley, Donald Watson, Robbie Watson, and her great grandsons Chad
Lawrence, Willie Kesterson and nephew Ted McCauley.
