Subject: [ARPOLK] Polk County Library Surname Files

The local members of the Polk County Genealogical Society started a vertical surname file several years ago in the Polk County Public Library. These file folders have varying amounts of information on the surname. Some have lots of information; others have only a few small items. If you would like to add contact information to those surname folders of interest to you, I offer this suggestion:

Send to this e-mail discussion board a list of up to ten Polk County surnames you are researching. Give as much or as little information as you want, such as dates, localities, etc. You may want to include your snail mail address in case your e-mail address changes, and for those researchers who don't yet have e-mail.

Our society will print up to ten copies of your e-mail and file a copy of it in each of those surname folders at the library, or create a folder if there isn't already one there. The next time someone comes to our library researching one of YOUR surnames, they'll find your message. Who knows what breakthroughs might develop from there....
