Hi everyone,
Just wanted to update all of you on what's been going on with the Polk
County Arkansas USGenWeb site. Since the counter was installed, we've
had 49,717 visitors (hits), there are currently 763 queries posted on
the GenConnect query board; 156 obituaries; 5 wills, 13 biographies, and
2 Bible records.
There continues to be a large volume of undeliverable messages; people
who have signed up for the email list or who have asked to be notified
when a new obituary, biography, etc., is posted to the GenConnect
boards. Most of the undeliverables are because a subscriber does not
realize that when his/her email address changes, they need to
unsubscribe before their old email address expires. Once it expires,
they will not be able to unsubscribe. They can resubscribe under the new
email address but I will need to remove the old email address manually.
So, please try to unsub while your old email address is still active.
We now have 763 queries posted; the board is set to show only those
posted in the past year. To see all the queries, go to the blue box
where you will find a white box named "period." Click the down arrow and
select the option of "several eons." Enter that. Then you will see all
the queries. The same is true of the search capability on the GenConnect
boards; put in the name, etc., that you want to search for; then click
the "several eons" option and search.
The same basic procedure applies to all the GenConnect boards.
We have 156 obituaries on line; 5 will abstracts; 2 Bible records; 13
biographies on the GenConnect board, and 2 deed records. Obviously, we
need more wills, Bible records and deeds. If you can help, please visit
the GenConnect boards at the Polk County site and enter the information
on the appropriate board.
A continuing problem results from researchers posting queries on the
biography or obituary boards. Queries are not allowed on those boards;
those boards are for DATA; obits or bios. If you see a post on one of
those boards and you want more information, then post a query and
reference the bio or obituary post. It is even possible to link your
query to a specificc post. See the instructions on the board. In most
cases the person who posted the obituary or biography is not related to
the subject of the post but has simply taken time to post the
information.
We have only six families linked on the Polk County Families section.
Consider sending a brief family history to be posted to this section of
the site. It will be indexed along with the rest of the site and
available to researchers world wide through the major search engines.
Thank you all for your help in making the Polk County site helpful to
researchers. I appreciate each and every one of you.
