Vivian and Tracey,
I noticed your listing for Anderson's in Prairie County. Cornelius
Anderson (b.April 1812, Wilkes Co., NC) was my great great grandfather.
He married AttaMinetta Queen in Wilkes Co. on 4 Aug 1840. Their
daughter, Margaret or "Mag" was my great grandmother. She m. 1st Ezekiel
Staggs and 2nd. Robert Franklin Waters. I have been working on this
family since 1970.
Cornelius was the son of Samuel Anderson of Wilkes Co., NC. Samuel was
born about 1770 probably in VA. He died in Wilkes Co. before 1848. He
had several children and probably two wives. Cornelius was the tenth
child of Samuel and LaCrecia ("Creasy) Stanley Anderson.
I inherited all of the family photos and papers from my grandfather,
Owen Waters, and have several of Cornelius Anderson including a wedding
photo for Cornelius and Atta taken in 1840.
I think you both may be working on this same line. The name "Hugh" is
one that comes down from the Queen family. Tracey, do you have a name to
go with the initial "J. Anderson?" Joseph and Joel were sons of
Cornelius and Atta. Cornelius or "Neil" and Atta came to Prairie County
from Cobb Co., GA. They left NC and went to GA where they stayed until
after the War Between the States when they came to AR. It has been said
they stayed somewhere in MS for awhile before coming on to AR.
Hope some of this helps.
