Obituaries

GWENDOLYN JESSIE STREET, 84, of Biggers, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab Center. Born Aug. 28, 1918, in Randolph County, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Nellie (Caldwell) Edington. Her husband, Dave Street, and a granddaughter, Bobby Street, also preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Houston Street of Pocahontas; a brother, Bob Edington of Pocahontas; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Roger Hovis officiating. Burial followed in Johnston Cemetery near Reyno. Tim Sorg, Matthew Throesch, Mark Throesch, Paul Wicker, Terry Street and Jeremy Street served as pallbearers.

JENETTIE JANE HACKWORTH, 94, of Pocahontas, died Friday, May 16, 2003, in Randolph Home. She was born in Randolph County in the Water Valley community, March 19, 1909, to the late Zachery Taylor and Mary Jane (Bennett) Toy. Her husband, Wiley R. Hackworth and a son, Vester Carl Hackworth also preceded her in death. She is survived by four sons, Jake Hackworth of Woodstock, Ill., Mack Hackworth of Pocahontas, Truman Hackworth of Jonesboro and Wiley Hackworth of Sedalia, Mo.; six daughters, Jennie Barker of Little Rock, Linda Campi of Florida, Geraldine Dunham of DeKalb, Ill., Wanda Jane Gruchaz of Florida, Lillie King of Pocahontas, and Mildred Pickenpough of Florida; a brother, Chessie Tib Toy and a sister, Nadine Cowley, both of Pocahontas; 27 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Bill Goode officiating. Burial followed in Masonic Cemtery. Greg and Andrew Williamson, Mark and Bill Hackwor!

EUIVIOLET COLLEEN GODWIN, 78, of Biggers, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center, Jonesboro. She was born March 13, 1925, in Biggers, a daughter of the late Ed and Loral (Barnes) Venson. She is survived by six sons, Bill Godwin, James Godwin, Eugene Godwin, Larry Godwin, Ronnie Godwin and Mike Godwin, all of Biggers; three brothers, Thomas Venson and Danny Cook, both of Biggers and Bill Venson of Pocahontas; a sister, Shelby Jones, also of Biggers; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday in Great Harvest Church with Paul Craig officiating. Burial followed in Hite Cemetery near Biggers, with McNabb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Mike Oxford, Joseph Godwin, Conrad Zitzelberger, Greg and Mark Godwin and Ronnie Harris. Cicero Jones was an honorary pallbearer.
