DIXIE LEWIS
PANAMA - Dixie Meryl Pearson Lewis, 95, of Panama died Thursday, Oct. 5,
2000, in Panama. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She attended the Free
Will Baptist Church in Panama.Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at
Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of
Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Rubinell Lewis Holland of Lavaca; one son,
John R. "Buddy" Lewis of Tulsa; three grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
COY SOUTHERLAND
JACKSONVILLE - Coy Lee Southerland, 87, of Jacksonville died Thursday, Oct.
5, 2000, in a Jacksonville hospital. He was a retired broom maker and a
veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Leon Cagel Cantrell
Southerland.Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Coop Prairie Cemetery
in Mansfield under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
He is survived by one step-daughter, Charlene Owns of Antoine; one step-son,
Laymon "Butch" Cantrell of Pencil Bluff; one sister, Hazel Cagel of
California; four step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
ORLAND CROWE
Orland F. Crowe, 77, of Fort Smith died Wednesday Oct. 4, 2000, in Fort
Smith. He was a retired refrigeration mechanic at Liquid Carbonic Inc. and a
member of Refrigeration Service Engineering Society.Funeral will be at noon
Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at 3 p.m.
Monday at Sandlin Cemetery in Ola.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie; three daughters, Evelyn Sparks of
Wichita, Kan., Paula Crowe of the home and Barbara Dunn of Fort Smith; one
son, David of Texas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his family.
THELMA COUSINS
Thelma L. Cousins of Fort Smith died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Fort Smith.
She was a retired secretary/treasurer for Kay Chair Co. She was past
president of Children's Service League, a founding board member of Fort
Smith Art Center, a member of Fort Smith Garden Club and a former school
teacher. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Aldersgate
Sunday school class. She was the widow of Ray C. Cousins.Funeral will be 10
a.m. Monday at Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church with burial
at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral
Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three sons, Duane of Van Buren, Fred of Fort Smith and
Jerry of Rogers; three sisters, Dorothy Snearly of Glenwood Springs, Colo.,
Lois Carleton of Amarillo, Texas, and Doris Eike of Radcliff, Iowa; one
brother, Harold Dillon of Independence, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David, Craig, Mike, Kevin, Christopher
and Aaron Cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Aldersgate Sunday school class.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.

ORVILLE BOONE
GREENWOOD - Orville "Sonny" Boone, 87, of Greenwood died Thursday, Oct. 5,
2000, in a Greenwood nursing home. He was a retired coal miner and a member
of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a member and deacon of
Excelsior Baptist Church.Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Excelsior Baptist
Church with burial at Evans Cemetery in Excelsior under the direction of
McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Alline; three daughters, Ramona Thomas of
Greenwood, Joyce Edwards of Lafayette, Colo., and Sue Smith of Garland,
Texas; two sons, Jim of Keller, Texas, and Charles of Marana, Ariz.; 14
grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Viewing will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
