Elmo Newquest

MIDLAND - Elmo Newquest, 80, of Midland died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in his
home. He was a retired mechanic for Arkansas Oklahoma Gas and a retired coal
miner, a Army veteran of World War II and a member of United Mine Workers of
America. He was the widower of Mildred Newquest.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Midland United Methodist Church with
burial at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland under the direction of McConnell
Funeral Home in Greenwood.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Niblett of Hackett and Suzell
Gillooley of Midland; one son, Foy Vance Newquest of Dallas; two sisters,
Alberta Strittman and Gladys Newquist, both of Fort Smith; 12 grandchildren;
and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Salus Richardson, Michael Niblett, Vaugh Cass Jr.,
Thomas Gillooley, Daniel Harris and Chas McDowell.

The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home,
where the family will visit with friends from from 7 to 9 p.m.
