Hi Cousins--looking for info on these names, natives of Sevier Co, AR,
lived/died in AR Co--this info is taken from the 1953 Centennial Edition
of the DeWitt Era-Enterprise, Aug 1953:
"Booker Latimer Was Town Favorite"
Everybody liked Booker Latimer, who from 1918 until 1945 owned and
operated the old Pharmacy, located on the corner of the square at North
Main, where McGahhey Hardware now stands.
And for years his drug store was the center for young & old alike.
For some time Mr. Latimer had the only fountain service in the town.
And no one enjoyed his friends more that "Booker," and he was
universally loved, as was his good wife, who during their latter years
assisted him in the store.
A native of Sevier County, he came here in 1918 and immediately went
into the drug store business. Reluctantly he retired from public life
because of ill health in about 1945 and passed from the scene June 18,
1946.
Mrs. Latimer preceded her husband in death about a year. She was
before their marriage Jeanette Steele, a native of DeQueen, and the
daughter of the late Rev Mr Steele who was at one time pastor of the
Methodist Church here, and Mrs. Steele. She and Mr Latimer were married
in Gurdon in 1908. Mrs Latimer was a leader in the Mothers' Club and
other women's organizations of the town.
Both were Methodists. Mr Latimer was a director of First National
Bank here, served as mayor for a time, and was a Mason. For years Mr
Latimer served on the State Pharmacy Board.
The Latimers had two daughters, Marjorie, now Mrs Price of Little
Rock, and Evelyn now Mrs John Self of Shelby, Mont."
Thanx in advance--
