Subject: [ATKINSON] My Atkinsons
Date: Tue, 4 Jul 2000 12:47:57 EDT
Thank you everyone for all the encouragement. I have been researching my
family for a little over a year and have been at a dead end on the Atkinson's
for about that long. Well, I hit pay dirt yesterday. I have finally found
the parents of my Sarah Ann Atkinson.
Sarah Ann Atkinson was born 1-23-1849 in Tennessee. She married Thomas B.
Garvey 10-15-1866 in Massac County, IN. She had 10 children (I will not name
all of them here). They all lived in Paducah Ky. She died 4-7-1916 in
Paducah Ky.
Well, I have been looking for her parents for a long time. Her death
certificate told me her father's name was William and census records showed
her born in TN. Well, she was born in TN but her father's name was not
William it was Edward Atkinson and I found them in the 1850 census in Paducah
Ky. Never thought to look there. Can you believe I wasted a whole year.
Here is what I found.
Edward Atkinson age 55, male, house carpenter, born in North Carolina.
Barbara Atkinson age 36, female, born in Kentucky
Richard Atkinson age 6, male, born in Tennessee
William C. Atkinson age 4, male, born in Tennessee
Sarah Ann Atkinson age 1, female, born in Tennessee.
There they are. My family so far. Now I would like to find other family
members. Any one with these folks in your tree, I can add so many others.
Thank all of you again for you encouragement and support.
GARVEY, ATKINSON, HENMAN,ORR,KING,DISALVO,DEGRACI,BARONE, AND LOTS OTHERS.
