Dear Ron,
I am wondering who the younger Benjamin was that married Mary
Abigail, b. 1811, daughter of Zelotes Olney and Dorcas Saunders? Is Olney the
surname of Zelotes and Saunders the surname of Dorcas? Was this person
Benjamin Atwood?
I have found that many families surrounding our Atwoods in 1800 and
1810 migrated from Orange County to reside near Benjamin (the elder) Atwood.
I wonder if a similar search for the people surrounding our Atwood in 1790
would be of use to see if we can trace whether some might have migrated
together.
I've not been working on Atwoods for some time so am a bit rusty.
What I usually do is to plug the names into the IGI or Ancestral File
or Rootsweb or Ancestry.com etc. to see if I can come up with any matches.
It's a bit of a project but might be worth it.
I'll try to write more in a couple of weeks after I teach my
class on Census and give my tour of the Family History Center. Wish me luck!
