I'm looking for the parents of William Attwood. He was a chandler,
merchant, mayor of Philadelphia 4 times between 1729 and 1747, and a heavy
investor in 3 early ironworks in eastern Pennsylvania. His will has no
wife or children listed, but mentions cousins by the name of Attwood, Shute,
and Penly. I have found in 1702 New York a William Attwood who absconded
with a lot of money (perhaps the same money later invested in the
ironworks??) Estate executed in 1754, Philadelphia.
Is anybody working this line?....possible footprints found in Maryland,
New York, New Jersey, and definitely Pennsylvania.
