Hi,
I can't add any detailed information for Bob as I am just beginning my own
Atwood research. Nevertheless, I think the Virginia origin of Ohio Atwoods
is worth pursuing, and there may be North Carolina connections as well.
For what it's worth, my father (Rex Atwood) was born in southern Virginia in
1917 (to Jason Atwood and Ila Mae Kerley Atwood from Alexander County, North
Carolina). I do not know the county of birth and was told the family did
not live there very long after my father was born. My grandfather died when
I was 8, and I've never known any Atwoods except his descendants. None of
them seem to know much about the Atwood side of the family, so I don't know
if Jason Atwood had siblings or where he was born. I have been told that
his parents are buried in unmarked graves at a church cemetery in Alexander
County, NC, and I believe I saw at least one marked grave of an Atwood who
didn't seem to be related to my family (shows that I'm a novice) during my
visit to that cemetery several years ago.
If I turn up anything further about my grandfather's origins or other
Atwoods, I'll post it.
Meanwhile, if anyone has any information about southern Atwoods, I'd be
interested. Most Atwoods seem to turn up in New England or Ohio, and I have
not established any connections between them and my own branch/twig of the
family.

Unfortunately I know nothing for sure beyond the fact that my gg parents,
James and Catharine (Kate) lived in Zanesville, OH. They were there when my
grandfather graduated HS in 1902. They died in Columbus, OH in 1918 and
1922 respectively. The only other connection I can make is my grandfather's

All other Atwoods are deceased and I have found no other information.
My grandfather had 3 siblings. Daisy Atwood Conomos, Polly Atwood
Schloffman-(I think) and Will. I have no dates on any of the siblings. One
cousin (now deceased) told me the Atwoods originally came from VA and maybe
Scotland before that.
