Atwood, Jeraldine "Jerry"

Jeraldine "Jerry" Atwood, 72, of Overland Park, KS, passed away July 16, 2004 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa. Until recently Jerry was at Medicalodge in Fort Scott, KS where she had been a resident since September 2002. This completes her long decline that is the trademark of Alzheimer's disease. Friends may call 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa at 10113 Lenexa Drive. A memorial service will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church, 12850 Quivira, Overland Park on Wednesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. Private family graveside burial will be at the Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the "Step Forward in Faith" fund at Heritage United Methodist Church. Her husband, Jim Atwood of Overland Park; our daughter, Jamie Atwood of Walnut Creek, CA; two grandchildren, Sarah and David Hunt of Walnut Creek; and brother, Jon Midkiff of Fort Scott, KS survive Jerry. She was born Jeraldine Midkiff in Fort Scott, KS to John!
and Helene Midkiff who both preceded her in death. Following her graduation from Fort Scott high school in 1950, she moved to Kingsville, TX in 1954. Jerry and Jim were married in 1957 and lived in a number of locations before moving to their current residence in 1977. Jerry was a vivacious person who liked people, music, children, her church and her home. She was devoted to her mother. Jerry has been missed for some time.
