Looking for the origins of Shadrach Atwood b Jul 1839 in NY.....

He is first found in Chazy, NY in 1850, living with Robert E Johnson and Johnson's wife Jane.

Robert Johnson is listed as a Methodist Clergyman, he was born ~1826, his wife Jane was born ~1814 !!

The Johnson's appear to have 'adopted' this ATWOOD family:
Melvin Atwood, b~1834 in NY
Albina Atwood b~1836 in NY
Shadric Atwood b~1839 in NY
Burdett Atwood b~1840 in NY

At first I thought they were the children of Richard and Clarissa (Harrington) Atwood of Shoreham, VT. Richard and Clarissa had the following children:
Melvin Atwood, b~1834 in VT
Alvina Melissa Atwood, b~1835 in VT
Orlando F Atwood, b~1841 in VT
Henry Atwood, b~1848 in VT

but on future censuses, Richard's children can be found in Vermont....

so..... who do these Chazy ATWOODs belong ?

Shadrach is found in 1870, in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. A farmer, he was married and his children were found in Winnebago County for the next 70 years. His wife was Eliza (?Wilson). His children were:
Albina Atwood, b~1865 (married Charles Minckler)
Ernest Atwood, b~1880 (married Ida ?Braydon)
Helen Atwood, b~1886 (married Frank Dubois)

Albina and Burdett ATWOOD were found with the Johnsons in Parishville, NY in 1860; but it is unclear what happened to them after that. The Johnsons could not be found after 1860.
