I agree with you Trish.
I'm tracing my Chinese ancestors in South Australia. It's quite a
frustrating search as my great grandfather had such a common name (Ta re
Lin). It's like finding someone called 'Jones' or 'Smith.' All I know
about Ta Re is that he didn't arrive in Victoria for the gold rush, there
are rumours that he was a people sImuggler or involved in people smuggling
(thus may not be in official records). I've searched through the microfish
in the State Library in South Australia looking at ship records of arrival
into Pt Adelaide/Pt Lincoln but no luch there. Do you know of anyone doing
a study on the Chinese in SA or any published works?
