Hello Liz & Listers
Thanks fors a great site Liz - for those lucky enough to have convicts from the
Midlands!
I discovered this other website http://www.fhindexes.co.uk/criminal.htm which says
that there are microfiche & CD versions of Criminal Registers, & other Criminal
indexes. Does anyone know of any library or gen. society in Australia which has any
of these CDs? Particularly the one listing all the death sentences for every county
in England & Wales from 1805-1816, or the "Serious/Monetary Crimes" index.
I have been trying unsuccessfully for years to find information about the family
origins of a female convict ancestor, Mary DALEY, who was convicted, of theft, at
the Old Bailey in October 1806. She was sentenced to Death, but that was
commuted to transportation for Life. Her convict records say that her father was
executed in June 1805 for 'Coining'. I've trawled through the HO 26 & 27 Film Reels
of Criminal Registers which are available here, without finding anyone resembling
him. I am looking for the surname DALEY (or DAILEY/ DALY, etc) executed June 1805.
(Or possibly the name WOOLLEY which was an alias mentioned his daughter trial.)
TIA
