Hello Sharon,
I've had another thought that might be of help. I
can't remember if you stated in your original message
whether you had the ship name or arrival date for your
convict. If you know when he arrived, approximately,
or even better, the ship he arrived on, then records
at the PRO at Kew should provide the date and court of
conviction. I realise that you live rather a long way
from Kew (!!) but if you happen to know any young
Australians in London, and there are lots of them,
believe me, you could help them to widen their
experience of the old country by taking a short trip
out to Kew to dig about a bit for you!
