Came across this Website for the Municipality of Newtown, Sydney
http://www.sydneyarchives.info/newtown which includes some rate assessment
records, and under Downloads - Council Minutes and SANDS DIRECTORY extracts
for this area for the year 1858 - 1891 (with some gaps).

I located where an ancestor was living in 1885 - a wonderful surprise.
