The Orphan School records are at State Records, look for resources for
Family historians, then orphan records; till 1833 some are indexed and
available on line, The more information button tells you what other records
exist. They are all copied in the full set of Microfilms and should be
available somewhere in Melbourne.
That illegally being taken to NZ would appear to be from orphanage
correspondence.
What you need to look at are the entry books. For the earlier period the
parents names are given but no status.

Subject: [PJ] ORPHAN SCHOOL

Hi Listers

I have found records of a 12 year old, free, girl, Sarah LYNCH, who was
apprenticed by the Orphan School on 02/04/1839 to a Henry BADGERY.

Having been illegally taken to New Zealand and finally returned in 1845 she
went to work for Mr. & Mrs. Dacre on Kennington Farm at Hexham.

The records that I have found included a note that "She has a mother in
Sydney."

This mother may be my GGG grandmother Sarah LYNCHEY or LYNCH and I am
enquiring where records of the Orphan School may be found. Would these give
any family details?

There is also a single reference to "the School of Industry", was this
associated with the orphan school and are there any records of this
institution?

Cheers

Peter
