Hi,
this looks like a little brickwall?
Charles Frederick? Scholer first married Elizabeth Sarah Corbett in about
1854 - was in the Avoca region, had a child or two, lost his wife and child
in about 1858 - and then married Honora English in 1865. Honora/Norah and
Charles then had 3? children in the Maryborough region: Honora, Charles
Patrick and then Michael?
Honora's entry to Victoria seems to be the main concern?
I have ancestors from the Maryborough region - and they got there from
England via South Australia - where I believe I may still find some living
distant cousins.
I expect you've had a look at the shipping indexes into South Australia?
There are a couple of items of interest here?
On the whole - although there is little evidence to support the claim - it
looks as though most of the Irish ENGLISH folk in Victoria came from
Tipperary not Limerick - I've ancestors from Limerick - and was recently
informed when querying the lack of info about Limerick on the LDS IGI -
that the local Limerick RC Bishop is not co-operating - boohoo..
The gap between the death of the first wife and the marriage of the second
wife is a little interesting?
Any idea what Charles was doing during this time??
Have you had a look at the Maryborough newspaper for the time of the
marriage of Charles and Hanora? I think?? there was a newspaper around at
that time - maybe Hanora/Charles get a mention?
I suspect that the place of birth on Hanora's death cert. is probab;y wrong?
A search of the indexes didn't indicate that Hanora had English family
members in Vic. - I gather you expect that Hanora came to Victoria as a
young adult on her own?
How about this for a theory - Hanora and family members perhaps came to
South Australia maybe a little earlier than her marriage - she met Charles
in South Australia - where he had been visitng relatives - love at first
sight - and a return to the Avoca Maryborough region?
Hanora found it easier to mention as her place of residence - her last home
in Ireland - rather than the temporary home in South Australia?
Anyhow - don't despair - something will turn up one day?
good luck
Robert
