Hi Jackie,

The source of information on the death certificate could be the reason for
the missing information. A child who died young may not have been known
about by the informant, also an adopted child whose existence may have been
never publicised or may have been deliberately, or accidentally,
"forgotten".

As examples, my father and I recently found out my father had a younger
brother who died as an infant - if my dad had been informant on his parents'
death certificates, this would not have been on there. In the family,
"things like that weren't talked about". Similarly, I recently found out
that my grandmother had 2 infant sisters that died - when I asked her about
it, she eventually remembered, but had genuinely forgotten them - it was a
lifetime ago. If she was the informant on her parents' death certificates,
again, missing information.

I'm sure there may be other reasons, too, but I hope this helps you.
