Subject: McBean's in Melbourne

Good day from a rainy Southern California,
I recently found a family manuscript that indicates a John McBean b ca 1850
in Edinburgh, Scotland relocated to Melbourne likely in the 1870s. It is
reported that he started a shoe factory and lived out his life in Melbourne.
The manuscript also notes there may be many McBean descendents from the
original John McBean still in the Melbourne area.
Not much to go on here but does anything sound familiar to anybody? Are
there records of businesses in Melbourne during the late 1800s?
