Dear Karen,
whatever you do don't die wondering !! I have found the
electoral roll excellent because as you know some family surnames are
continued in the form of the second christian name as the electoral roll
will give the persons full name .
Yes i would recommend you enclose a stamped envelope , its courteous
and it certainly can't do any harm . As to phoning i would writea letter
first , if no answer then phone but sometimes it depends how patient a
person you are!! Sometimes a phone call can save a lot of time waiting for
some one to write .
I would start off the letter like this
Dear .........,
my apologies for invading your privacy but i
would love to ask are you the descendant of " Charles Brown" as i am
researching this family and would appreciate any help ,etc
Perhaps other listers could add a bit more polish than i
could ,
Good luck, fingers crossed!!

alternate means to track possible descendants.

think phoning may be too confronting, so I'm thinking of writing a letter to
make enquiries.
