Subject: [AUS-MELB] MILLER OR MALONEY (or variant) maiden name, from
Stepney/Wapping?
Hello folks,
Every so often I make this plaintive plea, because I am absolutely stumped.
Does ANYONE have a woman in their family tree from Wapping or Stepney, or
one of those towns near London, with the maiden name of either MILLER, or
MALONEY (any spelling will do), and who spent some time in Kew Asylum,
Melbourne in 1882?
Of course, you may not know that she spent some time in the Kew Asylum, in
which case I'm sorry I spoiled the ending. She was a married woman at the
time of her visit to Kew, but I don't know how old she was - I would guess
mature but not elderly, sixties possibly, but could be younger.
And there's more. She had a sister in Kew at the same time. And a niece.
And her sister had died a lunatic in Yarra Bend some years before. But you
may not know all of that.
But if you have anyone with the maiden name of Miller or Maloney who came
from near London and lived in a Melbourne inner suburb, please contact me.
