It would appear to translate to "Persevere and Excel"
I found the following online at the following site:

Subject: [AUS-MELB] Latin expert - Jack Kingsbury 'King' Baillieu
Dear List Members -
Thanks to everyone, in particular Bob Millman, for assisting in
transcribing the post mortem inquest.
I am now hoping there might be an expert in Latin in the ranks.
At the Brighton General Cemetery is a member of the prominent Baillieu
establishment family - King Baillieu (1900-26) who was the son of Arthur
Sydney (1872-1943) and his wife Ethel Mary nee Ham (1875-1932). The
well-known arts patron (Lelda) Sunday Reed (1906-81) was King's sister.
On his monument is, what I believe to be a Latin expression:
"Praesto et Persto". The "ae" are joined together as if one letter.
Would be grateful if anyone is able to decipher the above in English.
Thanking you in advance
Travis M. Sellers
