Good evening Listers,

Last week I received wonderful assistance from Jenny, Carmel and Raymond on
this List, regarding John Mulhern/Mulhearn, who was born circa 1888 in
Bootle near Liverpool, LANCASHIRE and came to Melbourne (the year and ship
at the present time unknown), and he ran for many years, the Seamen's
Mission in Melbourne.

The information I received from the List, was regarding the 1901 Census in
Liverpool in England, and also details of John's death, not in 1956 as had
been assumed, but in 1949. He was buried under the name MULHEARN, though in
England the name was spelt Mulhern.

John Patrick MULHEARD was 62 years of age when he died at Northcote in
Melbourne and was buried at Fawkner Cemetery, in the Roman Catholic
Compartment S Grave 932. He died on 24th November 1949. His parents were
William Mulhern/MULHEARN and Mary GILL.

Buried with John is a Catherine CRAWFORD who died on 25th August, 1941, she
was 75 years old when she died. I am hoping someone could help regarding who
this lady was. Was she a married woman or single? Could she be related to
John?

I have not been able to find how and when John Patrick MULHERN/MULHEARN
arrived in Victoria. The chappie I am helping regarding this family, has
told me, his father-in-law thinks there may have been a son, also called
John. Not sure if this son arrived here with his father, or he was born
here.

I am hoping that SKS who may sometime in the future be visiting the Fawkner
Cemetery and could have a look at the headstone of this gentleman, to see if
any information is given about any relatives that may have been in Melbourne
at the time of his death.

Regards,
Janice
