What about contacting the Law Society in Melbourne and also a Lecturer in
Law at the University and see if they can help or suggest anything else.

Subject: [AUS-MELBOURNE] Looking for a retired criminal lawyer

For nearly ten years I have been researching a criminal case that was tried
in Beechworth in October 1863. I am now in the middle of the writing process
and desperately need the assistance of a criminal lawyer who has some
interest in 19th century law in Victoria.

I have many questions, for example what was the difference between first,
second and third degree murder.

If you know of someone who might be interested in helping me then please let
me know.

Thank you.

Anne
