Dear Mickey,
The piece about ironing the money was sent to me by a woman in USA.
My mother didn't iron money. For one thing she rarely had any and for
another the irons Mum had were what were known at "flat" irons and had to
be heated on the stove (which was a wood stove).
I often tell the women of today that they "don't know they are born" I
wonder what some of them would do if they had to go back to the "good old
days" of the wood stoves and flat irons etc.? I liked cooking in a wood
stove but hated the flat irons which had to be heated on them.
