Margaret MAHER is listed in the "Hired Out" register of the Meteor Park

Orphanage, [later Neerkol] at Rockhampton as being "Sent to Service" in

July 1888. Her employer was recorded as being JOHN WILLIAM CARROLL, a
Watchmaker of Townsville.

Margaret MAHER at 12 years of age, commenced her employment with
CARROLL on 16th July 1888. Margaret would have been engaged in
domestic duties. No orphanage girl would have been placed in the
household of a single man so, although she was hired out to Mr Carroll,
she presumably would have worked
in a domestic capacity for Mrs Carroll.

No discharge date is indicated for her in the register for the Meteor
Park
Orphanage, so it has to be assumed she remained in the care of the
CARROLL
family until she was eighteen years of age.

Does anyone have connections to, or information about this CARROLL
family
... or any idea what happened to Margaret MAHER? Thanks for your help.
