Dear Listers,
Does anyone know anything about the following family:
Peter ALLCOCK/ALCOCK married Elizabeth CARROLL 11 Jan 1845 at Gosford. The
couple had four children: Sarah Ann 1843; Samuel 1845; Jane 1847 and Olive
1850. All born at either Blue Gum Flat or Erina. Fathers occupation was
shown as "sawyer", which ties in well with the area!
Peter was an ex convict who had arrived on the "Marquis of Huntley"(3)in
1830; the 1837 Muster shows him being assigned to F A Hely at Brisbane
Waters and he was granted his Ticket of Leave in 1838, applied and was
granted permission to marry in 1844 in Brisbane Waters. He obtained a
Conditional Pardon in 1849 and died in 1852 at Dog Hole Farm, East Maitland.
I am trying to locate information about Elizabeth CARROLL. She was aged
about 36 years when she married Peter, so it is possible she may have been
married before this to someone else and that CARROLL was not her maiden
name.
About 6 months after Peter died, Elizabeth married John MURRAY at Dog Hole
Farm, East Maitland (I love the name of the farm!)
Does anyone know anything about this couple or the parents of Elizabeth?
'Bye for now
