For local history reasons, I am seeking contact with any connections of a
Thomas Riley who died from natural causes at Gosford on 11 May 1863. He was
a farmer aged 49.
His death certificate shows that he was born in County Kildare, Ireland, and
at the time of his death had been in the Colony of NSW for "about 25 years".
He was married at the Shoalhaven on the south coast (his name then spelt
REILY) in 1845 to Anne GANNON. It was a Roman Catholic ceremony in the
Illawarra Wollongong district. There were several daughters, but one -
Mary Ann aged 2 - had predeceased him. Others living were Mary Ellen 18
and Ann 13. In the Births, Deaths and Marriages index online, their name is
recorded with the spelling 'REILLY' (two ells).

Riley owned land at Woy Woy.
He was buried in Point Frederick Cemetery at Gosford, now Pioneer Park.
The undertaker was Abraham FLETCHER, and the witnesses were Hugh CAMERON and
William HOGAN.
Are there any descendants of this RILEY out there, please?
Best wishes from Gwen
