I think most of the viable farms left are at Somersby and Kulnura, Mangrove
Mtn- all that area. I have a relative- his mother and my father were first
cousins - who still has a very viable orange orchard at Somersby. We make
the trek up there regularly to buy a large bag of oranges- squeeze them for
breakfast!
The Williamsons still have a roadside stall at Erina Heights where you can
buy oranges and eggs. That would be one of the few remaining, if not the
last remaining roadside stall left on the coastal strip, apart from a few
up on the mountain. used to be lots of them in my youth and up until the
70s and 80s I seem to remember. Seems to be horse manure you buy from the
roadside these days- usually get some in Holgate/Matcham area!!
If you drive along the Scenic Hway from Terrigal through Avoca to Kincumber
and Macmasters (the areas I know best), look our for the steep clearings
facing north and you will see where those beans used to be grown. Not all
covered by houses- YET!!!
