Hi again
Thanks Nancy for the good account of Bowthorne's history.
The name Rosebank is still elusive. I was reminded that a new residential subdivision was opened in Wallalong about two years ago. It is called Rosebank. Somebody must know more about that name.
Thanks to Bob for further info about Bolwarra and Cooley's Camp.
We should consider that there may have been more than one location known as Cooley's Camp. The word camp gives the name an itinerant concept. I was reading the local history of Kempsey recently, where it was stated that there were three locations called Kempsey until someone had the foresight to
apply some sanity.
Cheers

Ron, Hi - my reference to Cooley Camp being Bolwarra is based on Eric
Clancy's "Giant for Jesus" ch 3 - he names many early settlers there, and
also identifies it as the site of a Methodist chapel, the land for which was
given by the Australian Loan Company. Clancy cites a Methodist report in
1846 referring to Cooley Camp, and the only chapel built in that area at the
time as far as I know was Bolwarra. Will read any other material on this
with much interest. Daryl Lightfoot
