My suggeestion would be consider Kingsford NSW.
Not a great distance from Leichardt - but a bit out of the way in 1880.
Mistake may be at the time, not in the transcription.
Are you familiar with Sydney ? If you are not, I can give you a better idea
of where Kingsford is.
