Hello there fellow listers

I've just stumbled across a copy of the funeral notices for my ancestor
James REGAN. He was a member of the above order - in fact the "Loyal
Friend in Need Branch, No. 4, Hamilton".

Can anyone tell me what this was? It has been suggested that this Order
was the Catholic version of the Masonic Lodge - does anyone know if this is
true?
