Hi Sarah,
This is indeed the family I am researching. Maria Robertson was a sister to
Sarah Thorndike who was my wife's grandmother. I have a death certificate
for Maria and if you haven't got it let me know. I believe John Robertson
may have been an Aide de Comp to the Governor (family folk lore says someone
was). In Reg Ford's book on the Williams River and its people a John
Robertson signed Government documents but I can't verify a connection. We
have visited Dungog Cemetery on a couple of occasions and seen the Robertson
Plot. Maria's mother, Margaret Frankcombe, is buried at Clarence Town
together with two of Maria's nieces.
Regards Bill--in a warm and sunny Tumbi Umbi.
