Subject: [HV] Pitnacree Bridge

There is a map on page 11 of Maitland on the Hunter which shows where
Pitnacree Bridge was. It was on Pitnacree Road. You can still drive
along this road today, entering from East Maitland. Driving along the
road you will come to the river. This is NOT where the bridge was. The
river changed course in 1951. The bridge was about a kilometer back
towards East Maitland from where Pitnacree Rd now stops at the river.
It was the 1951 change in the river course which left the bridge
spanning nothing but sand. It was demolished in 1962.
