East Maitland Jan 11 - before ED Day PM

John PETERS assigned to Mr CROFTON brought a complaint his master for not serving him with sufficients slops etc. Peters, who is a man of color and something of what is called among his compeers a sea lawyer, stated his grievance in a long speech... complaint was dismissed

Samuel WILKINSON assigned to Mr MARSHALL .. under suspicion of having stolen some fruit from his master's garden .. dismissed

James BENSON prisoner of the Crown at same establishment .. charge of having lost a sheep from a flock of which he had charge

John MURPHY holding a TOL was charged with executing certain eccentric gyrations in the street .. to the utter and inexpressible astonishment of the constables who stood .. watching ..with a mingled feeling of curiousity and awe ... 48 hours imprisonment!

Thomas BAKEWELL TOL ... found in a disreputable house tenanted by a person named HUTTON...
