Hi , I was wondering if somebody out there could do a look up of the
Rookwood cemetery fiche. I have a death certificate for Julia O'Neill
for 1893 for the Chuch of England section. This is very interesting
because we think we might have the answer to a very tricky situation. I
have been searching for the death of Judith O'Neill for ages and finally
came up with one transcription that has her buried at Rookwood in 1893.
However I have had the good luck to be contacted by a lady that has done
research on Judith O'Neill and has actually found her grave at Ellalong,
she is registered as being buried 3/9/1893 grave C57 age 89. Now this
is actually 2 months after the date I have for my Julia O'Neill who was
registered as dying 22/7/1893 and being buried at Rookwood C of E
Section. My sister rang Rookwood yesterday and there is no record of a
death for a Julia O'Neill in any of the sections there. I was hoping
somebody might be able to confirm this by checking the fiche to
eliminate office error. The lady I found was buried as a pauper, I am
wondering if her family found her and moved her remains to Ellalong. It
is a curious and intriguing story. I have checked for the death of
every single Judith through the bdm's and found no possibilities.
Apparently the name Julia is also applicable to Johanna and Judith so I
am hoping that this gravesite at Ellalong will be the answer to months
of research. Of interest is the death registered in 1893 also of a
Johanna O'Neill. I am wondering if this could be a second registration
of the same woman.
Anyhow, I just thought that maybe if anyone out there has the indexes
for either Rookwood or Ellalong they may be able to confirm my thoughts.
Best regards
Maureen
