Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my wonderful news with you all.
After months of trudging through bdm's looking for Judith, I have
finally located her at Ellalong Cemetery. I received a transcript of
her death today, that verifies that we have the right person. I had a
great deal of help from people on genanz and the Hawkesbury Hunter
Valley and the Hunter Valley lists. I am so elated as Judith's death
was actually registered as Johanna O'Neill. The transcription at
Ellalong has her husband as Hugh whilst actually on the death
certificate he is noted as Owen Hugh O'Neill.
This lady apparently was quite a character from the time she was
transported till her death and was well known in the Hunter Valley.
Through these lists I have been fortunate enough to have three different
people who had been researching this family for years contact me, each
unknown to the other and all descendants of Judith Daly/O'Neill. I have
enough now to practically write a book. Thankyou so much everybody for
all your wonderful help. I am so excited, even though Judith is not
related to me, I think after all the hard work I have put in over her
its the same as adding a new member to my family, I feel like I have won
the lottery. It just goes to show that persistance does pay off.
These lists are the best!!!!!
Maureen
