Dear listers
I have been trying to track down the location of DUNMORE where my ancestor
John NORRIS and his cousin Samuel NORRIS were living in mid 1850s. Both John
& Samuel are shown in records as 'engineers' - probably in steam or water
flour mills at various locations around the Hunter / Williams area.
According to Geographical Name Search of NSW it is a discontinued locality
LAT: 32 41 00 LONG: 151 36 00 1:100000 MAP: NEWCASTLE 9232 and is named
after the grant of George Lang, named after a relative. P 128. (Infor. from
RAHS Journal Vol. 39 Pt 3) which puts it somewhere in the Maitland area ..
BUT on the birth cert of Harriet NORRIS in 1856 the place is shown as
"Dunmore" near Wallsend - can anyone clarify this for me
