Hello Phillip,
I have an interest in the Wade Family of Dungog as my
Great Grandfather's younger brother,Henry Charles Dark (1853-1901), married
the 4th child of Sarah Ann & William, Mary Ann Wade (1857-1941), at the Wade
Family property "Croom Park", Fosterton,North of Dungog on the 6th of August
1879.I have an extensive file on the Wades,if you would like a copy, just
contact me direct.
The info I have on Sarah Ann NEWELL is that she was born 20 Oct
1829,Bailborough,County Cavan,Ireland,Parents Anthony Newell (1790-) &
Esther McDowell (1792-).She was the 7th child.She arrived in Sydney,NSW on 9
June,1847 on board the "Emma Eugene".Apparently all her siblings arrived in
Australia on different vessels:-3 brothers,James (1817-1890),Andrew
(1818-1903)+ Wife & William (1822-) arrived in Sydney on 30th Nov,1841
aboard the "Albatross".
Anthony (1814-1897) & Esther (1825-1890) first arrived in Adelaide, thence
Sydney on 28 April,1847 aboard the "Nile".John,the eldest,(1811-1892) came
with his wife & 6 children aboard the "Nile",departing Plymouth 29 Jan,1861
& arriving Sydney 14 May,1861.
Sarah Jane Wade was the 9th child,born at "Croom Park", on 11 Sept 1862.She
married John Salkeld CARRUTHERS at "Croom Park" on Jan 2,1882. She died on
22 Aug,1940 Manning River,Taree,NSW.
