I am researching the descendants of Thomas William DONNOLLEY (1852-1936)
Thomas married Catherine Constance CONDON (born in Cork about 1866) at the
Sydney RG's office on 4 Mar 1885 and together they produced two children:
Annetta Madeline (1885-1986); and
Edmund Condon (1889-1965)
Thomas and Catherine were divorced on 10 Jan 1894 and sometime prior to
this, Catherine (according to family folklore) "went her own way". The two
children were then raised by the McDERMOTT sisters (known to the family as
Aunty Kate and Aunty Ciss) in Singleton.
The sisters were not connected (in any formal way) to the DONNOLLEY family.
It is possible, but doubtful, that they may have been connected in some way
to Catherine. Details regarding Catherine's arrival in Australia are
unknown. Her parent's names, as shown on her marriage certificate were
Edmond CONDON and Margaret HOURIGAN.
The McDermott sisters apparently did a great job and Annetta and Edmund went
on to produce families of their own.
I would welcome any information regarding the McDERMOTT family in Singleton.
